Artifact

Definition

What this means

An Artifact is Claude's name for a preview that sits beside the chat. Claude can show HTML, React, SVG, markdown, or other files in that pane. You can iterate in the same thread.

Some Artifacts can be shared from Claude. That share still lives in Claude's product. It is not the same as a hosted app on a Calculator Tools account.

Why it matters

People search "Claude Artifacts vs" when they want a link they can send. An Artifact is for work in the Claude chat. A hosted app is the URL that stays on your dashboard after the chat.

How it works here

Calculator Tools does not replace Claude. Connect MCP in Claude. Iterate in the Artifact, then ask Claude to publish it as a public calculator.tools page. Claude writes the HTML, CSS, and JavaScript through MCP. There is no separate Artifact import control.

The compare page is Calculator Tools vs Claude Artifacts.
